Description
Delta sleep-inducing peptide was isolated in 1977 from the venous blood of rabbits. Decades later its precise physiological role is still debated, which is part of why it remains a research subject.
DSIP 5 mg, a nine-residue neuropeptide
The sequence WAGGDASGE has a mass of 848.8 g/mol and carries a single tryptophan at the N-terminus, which gives it a useful UV absorbance at 280 nm alongside the peptide-bond signal at 214 nm. Three glycines make the chain flexible and the two acidic residues give it a net negative charge.
It has been studied in animal models and in brain-tissue preparations, including work on its effects on hormone release. As with several older neuropeptides, results vary between groups, so careful controls matter more than usual.

Questions about DSIP Peptide 5mg
Why detect DSIP at 280 nm as well as 214 nm?
Its tryptophan absorbs at 280 nm, which gives a second, more selective wavelength for checking identity.
Is DSIP chemically stable?
It has no cysteine or methionine, but tryptophan can oxidise under light. Store it dark and dry.
What does DSIP stand for?
Delta sleep-inducing peptide, a name taken from the original 1977 report.
